By cutting your emissions and providing innovative climate solutions, you will meet the climate expectations of customers, retain market access and win new business. We work with leading partners with the goal to make the path towards a net-zero business simple and beneficial.

The SME Climate Hub for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) provides a one-stop-shop to make a climate commitment and access best-in-class tools and resources. These resources will help you measure, set targets, reduce your business’ emissions, track and communicate progress, and free up your time to focus on driving your business forward.

We also partner with multinational companies, financial institutions and governments to create clear incentives and opportunities for SMEs that commit to halving their emissions before 2030 and achieving net zero before 2050.”

SDGs LINKAGES

The resource is focussed on adopting sustainable practices and sustainability reporting (SDG 12.6) and taking climate action (SDG 13.3). These are linked to SDGs 7.2 (uptake of renewable energy) and 7.3 (improving energy efficiency), and 9.4 (upgrading infrastructure to be sustainable), SDGs 12.2 (sustainable use of natural resources), 12.4 (managing wastes into the environment), 12.5 (reducing waste through prevention, reduction, reuse and recycling), and 12.7 (green procurement). Making the commitment and reporting also contributes to SDG 16.6 (‘Develop effective, accountable and transparent institutions at all levels’), SDG 16.10 (access to information and protecting fundamental rights and freedoms), and SDGs 16.B (policies that support sustainable development) and 17.14 (policy coherence for sustainable development.

SDG 12.2: Sustainable Management and Use of Natural Resources

Reduction of material footprint in terms of reductions in consumption of biomass, fossil fuels, metal ores and non-metal ores.

SDG 12.4: Responsible Management of Chemicals and Waste
Our Collections Matter indicators:
Quantities, and reduction in quantities, of chemicals of all kinds, including chemicals used in maintenance of collections facilities, and chemicals used in care and preparation of collections, and all wastes throughout their life cycle, reducing release to air, water and soil.
Plans in place to eliminate the use and release of hazardous chemicals and harmful wastes of all kinds into the natural environment as soon as possible.

Our Collections Matter indicators:
Clear visions, strategies and plans in place for all aspects of sustainability – environmental, social and economic (people, planet, prosperity)- across all areas of activity.
Visions, strategies and plans relating to sustainability to be publicly available and incorporated into planning documents.
Commitments to be in line with local, regional, national and/or international targets and ambitions.
Incorporation of sustainability into reporting for funders and other stakeholders, including the public. Reporting to include commitments and progress towards targets.

SDG 13.3: Build Knowledge and Capacity to Meet Climate Change
Our Collections Matter indicators:
Plans in place to enhance positive contributions to addressing climate change through use of collections. Plans in place to ensure collections, collections institutions and broader society can adapt effectively to climate change.
Plans in place for effective education and awareness raising on climate change mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and early warning.
Plans in place to reduce negative contributions of collections-related functions, e.g. measuring greenhouse emissions with plans and targets in place to reduce them.
