Toolkit - Mapping Cultural Heritage

  • Conserve the unique cultural heritage of Hong Kong [or other places], it is important to be able to identify what makes each place distinctive and to assess if these assets are able to survive change.
  • Introduce the concept of cultural mapping as a tool and technique to identify and document tangible and intangible assets and resources of a place.
  • Understand how humans place-make, assimilate, create settlements and bequeath legacies to the next generation, and this is the process of place-making.

Place-making is a gradual process initiated by the communities who define their own priorities and place-make in organic corporal ways.
