Scotland Adapts: a capability framework for a climate ready public sector

SDGs LINKAGES
Implementing the resource links with many SDGs and SDG targets. As climate adaptation is the focus, this contributes to SDGs 13.1, 13.2, 13.3, around urgent climate action.
As the focus is on effective, transparent institutions, this contributes to SDGs 16.6 and 16.10. Reporting of progress would contribute to SDG 16.7 (sustainability reporting).
Managing disaster risk contributes to SDG 11.B; effective linkages between urban and rural settings contributes to SDG 11.A; and working to reduce losses as a result of disasters contributes to SDG 1.5.
The strong focus on inclusive, participatory decision-making contributes to SDGs 10.2 (empower and promote the social, economic and political inclusion of all), SDG 11.3 (inclusive and sustainable urbanization) and SDG 17.17.
Ensuring collecting institutions adapt to climate change helps ensure the protection of cultural and natural heritage (SDG 11.4), and that they provide inclusive, effective public services (SDG 11.5).
Managing water resources in the light of climate change, and involving communities in their management, contributes to SDGs 6.4, 6.6 and 6.B.
Upgrading collections facilities to contribute to climate adaptation contributes to SDGs 7.2, 7.3, 8.4 and 9.4.
Collecting institutions can help support the implementation of the resource through supporting education for sustainable development (SDG 4.7) and ensuring people have information to live in harmony with nature (SDG 12.8).
Incorporating biodiversity values into planning supports SDG 15.9.
Ensuring staff have skills to support climate adaptation supports SDG 4.4.
Ultimately, implementing the resource would support more SDGs and targets, notably in SDG 14 (life below water) and SDG 15 (life on land).
