“The purpose of these guidelines is to serve as template for museums to develop their own disaster risk management plans and strategies through risk assessment, risk reduction measures, preparedness and emergency response measures and planning for post-disaster recovery. The object is not to be prohibitive, but rather enable museum professionals to integrate disaster risk management within the overall management of museums, collections and visitors.”
