Climate Action Tracker

- Climate Analytics and New Climate Institute
“The Climate Action Tracker is an independent scientific analysis that tracks government climate action and measures it against the globally agreed Paris Agreement aim of "holding warming well below 2°C, and pursuing efforts to limit warming to 1.5°C." A collaboration of two organisations, Climate Analytics and New Climate Institute, the CAT has been providing this independent analysis to policymakers since 2009.
CAT quantifies and evaluates climate change mitigation commitments, and assesses, whether countries are on track to meeting those. It then aggregates country action to the global level, determining likely temperature increase by the end of the century. CAT also develops sectoral analysis to illustrate required pathways for meeting the global temperature goals.” (About)

SDGs LINKAGES
The resource is most closely linked with SDG 13 (take urgent climate action), notably SDG 13.2 (Integrate climate change measures into national policies, strategies and planning). The resource can support staff training (SDG 4.4), and SDG targets relating to Education for Sustainable Development (4.7), lifestyles in harmony with nature (12.8) and climate change education and awareness (13.3). The resource can be used to help support public access to information (16.10). The resource is a valuable source of information to help support a range of activities, such as understanding action for sustainable tourism (SDG 8.9) and initiatives to manage use of resources and support sustainable development generally (SDG 12.6).
