“The Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Central Civilization Office, the Ministry of Education, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, and the All-China Women's Federation jointly issued the Code of Conduct for Citizens' Ecological Environment (Trial) (hereinafter referred to as the "Code") at the national main event of the 2018 June Five-Year Environment Day, advocating a simple, moderate, green and low-carbon lifestyle, leading citizens to practice ecological and environmental responsibilities, and working together to build a beautiful China with blue sky, green ground and clear water.
It is understood that the compilation and release of the "Specification" aims to firmly establish the concept of socialist ecological civilization, promote the formation of a new pattern of harmonious development and modernization between man and nature, strengthen citizens' awareness of the ecological environment, and guide citizens to become practitioners of ecological civilization and builders of beautiful China, including a total of "ten" code of conduct.”

The resource can help support action for SDG targets relating to Education for Sustainable Development, notably 4.4 (staff skills), 4.7 (Education for Sustainable Development), 7.2 (adopt renewable energy), 7.3 (efficient use of energy), 12.8 (information for sustainable development and lifestyles in harmony with nature) and 13.3 (education and awareness for climate mitigation, adaptation and risk reduction). Supporting the Code through cultural institutions supports SDGs 16.6 (effective, accountable and transparent institutions), 16.B (promote laws and policies for sustainable development) and 17.14 (policy coherence), and 17.17 (partnerships for sustainable development). Working to protect natural environments supports SDGs 6.6 (protect water habitats), 6.B (involve communities in water management), 11.4 (strengthen efforts to protect cultural and natural heritage), 14.2 (coastal and marine environments) and 15.1 (protect terrestrial habitats). Participating in monitoring and reporting supports 12.6, and taking part in environmental protection supports SDG 10.2 (universal inclusion).
