Estonian Art Museum Sustainable Exhibition Model
Intended Audience
Estonian museums and other exhibition institutions
- Estonian Art Museum
“A world in a climate crisis requires everyone's efforts, and exhibitions must also become more environmentally sustainable.
The sustainable exhibition model, created especially for Estonian museums and other exhibition institutions, is a free online tool that helps to assess the environmental impact of exhibition activities and gather inspiration on how to make the museum landscape more sustainable. Raising awareness of the activities with the greatest impact on the climate will help to plan steps for more sustainable action.”

SDGs LINKAGES
The resource is most closely linked to SDG 12.6 (adopt sustainable practices and reporting), and a number of related targets including 11.6 (reducing the adverse impact of cities), 12.2 (use of natural resources), 12.3 (reducing food waste), 12.4 (management of wastes), 12.5 (reducing waste), 12.7 (sustainable procurement), 13.3 (contributing to climate action). Adopting renewable energy supports SDG 7.2, and enhancing energy efficiency supports SDG 7.3. The emphasis on social inclusion can support, for example, SDG 11.7 (safe and inclusive green and public spaces).
Individual case studies support additional SDG targets.
