SDGs LINKAGES
The resource is most strongly linked to SDG 12.6 (adopt sustainable practices), SDG 16.3 (upholding the rule of law and equal justice for all), SDG 16.10 (uphold rights and freedoms), SDG 16.B (promote and enforce non-discriminatory laws and policies for sustainable development), and 17.14 (policy coherence for sustainable development).
The resource is aligned with the Ten Principles of UN Global Compact which have the following SDG linkages: Principles 1 and 2 support SDG 16.10 (which includes upholding rights and freedoms). Principles 3-6 supports SDG targets including 8.3 (decent job creation), 8.5 (fair pay for equal work), eradicating exploitation, modern slavery and forced labour (part of SDG 8.7), supporting labour rights (SDG 8.8), all of which contribute to SDG 8.9 on sustainable tourism. Principles 7-9 support SDG targets on avoiding water pollution (6.3), efficient use of water (6.4), use of renewable energy (7.2), energy efficiency (7.3), providing sustainable infrastructure (9.1), upgrading existing infrastructure to be sustainable (9.4), minimizing environmental harm and air pollution (11.6), targets on waste and use of natural resources (12.2-7), acting on climate change (13.3), avoiding marine pollution (14.1), and protecting habitats and species (15.5). Taking a precautionary approach to environmental challenges also supports SDGs 11.5 (on managing disasters) and 13.1 (climate change adaptation).
Principle 10 supports SDGs 16.4 (preventing illicit financial and other flows, and combatting organized crime), 16.5 (reducing bribery and corruption) and 16.6 (effective, accountable and transparent institutions).
